Speaking at the Twin Cities SharePoint Code Camp in June...

Hey All! This post is an FYI, letting you all know that I’ll be speaking at the Twin Cities SharePoint Code Camp on June 14th! I’m presenting on four topics so it should be a fun filled day!  The code camp is FREE and you can register here. Plus, I believe there are 24 other tracks taking place throughout the day, so it should be a great opportunity to get in some good tips and tricks from many areas of SharePoint related study.

Here’s the four presentations I’ll be giving:

Building SharePoint Workflows in Visual Studio with Windows Workflow Foundation, the Better Alternative over SharePoint

Designer
Workflow and SharePoint go hand and hand, and Windows Workflow Foundation is the power behind the bus! Learn how to
build a SharePoint workflow with Visual Studio by utilizing Phil’s 10 easy steps to workflows. After you see how easy it is, you’ll never go back to Designer!  Advanced topics like control blocks and custom forms will be demonstrated, time permitting.

How to Effectively Manage your "12 Hive" SharePoint Customizations and Deployments with SharePoint Solutions and Source

Control
Development deployments across your farms are difficult to manage, especially if you have a large team. Come learn the
best practices to SharePoint development, and how to control the chaos!

Easy Ajax in your Web Parts with Client Side Callbacks
New to Ajax? Ajaxian web parts are surprisingly easy and fun to build and they add a lot of business value and usability
to your solutions! Come learn how to build these neat Ajax parts that have no external dependencies by using client side callbacks!

Setting up a Custom Forms Based Authentication Membership Provider that Authenticates Users Against a SharePoint List

Instead of Active Directory or SQL
Everybody knows how to setup FBA against a SQL database, but how about against a SharePoint list? Ever want to have your
power end users manage authentication? Don’t want to purchase AD CALs for your clients but it’s too arduous to manage SQL users? If you answered yes, come jump on the SharePoint bandwagon! Your power end users will love you for it!

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!!

(and make sure to say hello if you come!)

Phil

The MangaCast team takes a hard look at this week’s new manga, and Ed has the 411 on three new titles from DMP.
The first wave of nominations for the YALSA Great Graphic Novels for Teens list is up, and

manga is well represented. I like the range of the list, which includes both Pet Shop of Horrors Tokyo and Japan Ai: A Tall Girl’s Adventures in Japan, two books that are great (as in “awesome!” rather than “an epic for the ages”) in very different ways. If you feel something is missing, nominate it yourself! (H/T: Robin Brenner.)
