In case you haven’t been to my website, I have a freeware section hosting the following neat little tools and web parts that are free to download and are open source on codeplex. Below is a description of all my offerings:
Site Creation and Approval Workflow
So I wanted to get my feet wet with Windows Workflow Foundation and I remember receiving countless questions from clients around how they wanted some way to force an approval system for new sites created in their site collections. Well, I'm pleased to report that the day is here, and it's an honor to give it to you open source!
List Item Archiving Web Parts
Naturally, I wanted to have a good archiving system for my blog and I wanted to keep the familiar SharePoint blog look and feel, so I wrote this set of generic list item archiving web parts that I'm using to archive my posts. Together they make a nice pair! Check out my archive for a working example.
SPFarmDiscovery
This executable crawls your entire farm and builds an XML file that contains a node for every object in the farm all the way down to to the Web level. It also captures some nice meta-data along the way that you could report on.
Microsoft Virtual Earth Web Part
This is a good web part that you can use to plot locations on a map. This could possibly include recommended restaurants or hotels, office locations, or customer locations. The addresses for each location is stored in a SharePoint list for easy maintenance and initial configuration.
Polling Web Part
This web part allows you to quickly and easily poll your end users. It uses a lot less real estate than the SharePoint survey does, making is a good option for already crowded pages.
RSS Reader Web Part
The RSS Reader Web Part is a good alternative to the MOSS RSS Viewer Web Part if you don't have MOSS. You can edit the web part properties and specify any RSS feed that you want to present on your SharePoint site!
Good Luck, and I hope you find these parts usefull!
