A customer recently approached me about an issue she was having in exporting her MOSS surveys to Excel, specifically when the survey included the field type “rating scale”. When exporting to Excel 2003 a dialogue with the message “This list has hidden columns or read-only columns that require data but for which no default value has been specified. Existing rows in this list may therefore be edited, but new rows cannot be inserted” will appear and rating scale columns will fail to be included in the exported Excel 2003 spreadsheet. This is currently an issue with Excel 2003 and there is a KB article relating to this issue here:- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828809. Exporting the same to Excel 2007 is successful.
