Customers are findrsing that this patch breaks SharePoint. One of our best customers has reported this to be a problem and their current MOSS implementation is at a complete standstill.
A portion of one of his emails to me:
The initial update arrives sounding very non-threatening.
We have an organization wide policy to "apply patches or else" that perhaps we need to rethink now, but we applied this patch (like all the others for the past several years).
It is not completely clear whether this patch was delivered via our automated WSUS system or not -
Anyway the patch seems to have a clear tendency to break SharePoint servers - WSS 3 and MOSS07.

It seems to be a particular problem since it takes a LONG time to install and sometimes crashes or fails to finish - If that happens you are now really hurting.
We have a case open at PSS and are working it through the channel - it seems there are a number of other open cases and folks on threads with issues too.
Well I guess now we get to test how good the backups and our recovery procedures really are...
I'll post back when/if I learn something new.
