***Update***
(Jan 17) I'm getting a number of emails from folks asking why Amazon is shipping in March. My contacts at PRESS are working to find this out. From PRESS's perspective, the book has been printed and released, though it may take a week or 10 days to hit the shelves and distribution houses. I'll update more here when I learn more. Thanks.
(Jan 19) Ok - here's the scoop: In short, Amazon and other publishers over-estimate the time it takes to deliver a book so that they can meet their timing obligations. My book was “published“ by PRESS on January 10, which means that by today, January 19, Amazon should pickup their shipment and have the books in their warehouse next week. They are known for saying “3-4 weeks for delivery“ in their emails and on their web site while they are checking in the stock in their warehouse. We should see all of this change next week. For book stores, it takes roughly 5-8 weeks to get a book from PRESS to their shelves: PRESS warehouse ->retailer's warehouse -> retail store -> shelves. Folks at PRESS are not worried - Amazon and others will start shipping rather soon.
(Jan 30) The book is out and is shipping. You should receive yours soon.
