Restoring Content Indexes

I just spent 13 hours on site helping a customer move their farm from one set of servers to another.  Most of that time was due to the content indexes not restoring correctly.  Without going into detail, let me please implore you to not attempt to restore the content indexes unless you're restoring to a single server topology.  The PSS guy we had was about a blunt as one could be:  “I would not try to restore any content indexes - it doesn't work very well”.

FYI.

We've only been fighting it since your Tech Ed presentation this summer. Good to know we're not just stupid.
