Stemming in the SharePoint Thesaurus

Here's my Thesaurus File:

            Internet Explorer
            IE
            IE5

            NT5
            W2K
            Windows 2000

            run**
            jog**
            red**

            unique
            rare
            snoopy

Then I create the following files:

Red.txt has the following:

red
redding
running

green.txt has the following:

purple
redmond
run

blue.txt has the following:

blue
green
redding

So, when I execute a search on the term “jog”, I get green.txt and red.txt.  If I search on the term “red”, however, I get just red.txt.  It doesn't pick up the word redding in the blue.txt file.  So the two stars in the thesaurus must indicate inflection only, not any string of characters after the word.

Anyone have any experience with this?
